Child Labor and Pollution during the Industrial RevolutionIndeed child labor and environmental pollution were common features during industrialization. During this period, children as young as 5 years were employed in mines and industries. Often, the employers preferred employing children due to a number of reasons. For instance, children would not demand high pay as their adult counterparts. As a result, industrial owners exploited them in order to make large profit margins (Allen, Robert, pg. 18). Children were also smaller in size and hence giving them an advantage over adults as they could be used in cleaning machines and fitting and working in small places.
