IntroductionThe United States of America (U.S.A) has witnessed different landmark cases, which had impacts on the lives of African Americans. One of the most significant cases in the history of the U.S was the case of Dred Scott v. Sanford (1857). In the case, the Supreme Court ruled that no black person was eligible to claim for the United States of America citizenship, whether they were initially free of were still under slavery. This ruling was against the defense by Dred Scott claiming that the court should award him the clearance of being a free person since he was leaving in a free slave State before relocating to Missouri.
