Prematurity

Instructions

In Chapter 3 of our text, Santrock provides a brief description of low birth weight infants and mentions the term preterm infants.  However, the text does not address the complications (both maternal and fetal) that may lead to premature delivery.  In this assignment, you are to prepare a report on the some of the complications that may lead to the birth of a premature infant.  You are to address both maternal complications as well as fetal complications that result in premature delivery.  Identify the known causes (if known) for the complication and explain why delivery must take place.  Are there ways of preventing these complications from occurring?  Be sure to provide references (complete citations) for your information.  This report should be at least 3-4 double-spaced typed pages (not including references)
