Meta-ethical theories are broadly categorized into two. That is non-cognitive theories and cognitive theories. Cognitive theories are further categorized into relativist theories and universalist theories. The only non-cognitive theory is emotivism which treats value and ethical judgments as expressions of feelings, attitudes, and prescriptions of action instead of reports or assertion of anything (Vardy, 2016).
