The play is based on Greek mythology, and it heavily depicts their gods. Electra was set in 410 BC, a time when the Greece and Trojan Wars were prevalent. The dominant theme is revenge, which is a trait for the main characters. Summary of ElectraAgamemnon had sacrificed his daughter to appease the gods, and so his wife Clytemnestra planned to murder him as revenge with her lover when he returned. After the murder, she fears that the children might take revenge and drives them away. Electra, her daughter, is married off to a farmer, and the son, Orestes, is placed under the care of Phocis king. After sometimes, Orestes returns to Argos to avenge for the death...
