A good rule of thumb is to include / analyze one quotation per body paragraph. 3.    Analysis / Close Reading: This is the most important part of your essay. In the following 5-8 sentences, explain how your quote proves your topic sentence. Look at how words, dialogue, tone, diction, and symbolism interact to achieve a certain effect or to advance a certain theme. Conclusion: 1.    Recap your argument. 2.    Reflect on your arguments importance.
