One of the differences between map visualization and normal visuals is that map visualizations represent the physical geographical information whereby physical characteristics such as land masses, lakes, population distributions, roads, and terrain are all covered. Conversely, normal visuals aim at only presenting quantitative data either in bar graphs, histograms or charts for people to view and get a mental image of the data distribution. Secondly, normal visual such as bars depend on comparing the length of the bars to obtain the quantitative information. Using normal visuals on maps would then not be possible since they would require a lot of spaces and the comparison would be difficult especially if the visuals involve bar charts, line graphs, histograms that require a common baseline...
