1.    Now that we are in the second half of the term, you should be able to apply the sociological perspective to social institutions.  To this end, I would like you to use information from the chapter on Crime & Deviance (chapter 7) AND information from any other chapter to suggest improvements in the criminal justice system. You are free to use material from any chapter you feel fits.  Please make sure you are explicit in your use of a course chapter other than the Crime & Deviance chapter.  2.    The paper should be a minimum of 750 words of text with a word count listed.3.    Points will be deducted for papers that are sloppily written and for those that are less than the required length.  The textbook is: Sociology in Modules, 5 Richard Schaefer

The Criminal Justice System continues to transform rapidly, especially with the handling of cases. Some of the previous techniques of dealing with defendants are no longer effective since crimes continue to escalate. For instance, the case of individuals using illegal drugs is still on the rise, despite strict measures to punish drug users and peddlers. For example, deviance is a direct influence of most crimes. For this reason, it would be prudent for criminal justice to look for an alternative approach to handle cases such as defiance in society.
