I thought that the attached article might be a springboard for furthering our discussion related to transfer of learning. While I found there to be many interesting things in the article (and the reference list may provide a road map for further searching), the following questions came to mind.* Is there a difference between education and training? The Difference between Education and TrainingSubedi (2004) points out that the similarity between education and training is that both aspire to transfer knowledge (p.591). Subedi (2004) also acknowledges that the goal of training and education will be useless if no transfer occurs. There is no fundamental distinction between Transfer of learning and Transfer of training (Subedi, 2004, p.594). Personally, I believe that there is some difference between learning and training. This because learning focus more on imparting knowledge, but with minimal or lack of practice. Conversely, training involves the transfer of knowledge from learning through practice.
