Answer
Samuel Hearnes narrative presents a great insight into the life of the British explorers. One of the things that stood out for me in his narrative is the model that the British explorers used to claim land and the natives. The natives were presented as barbaric individuals that needed civilization. The explorers reaction was even though they depend mainly on the natives for their survival. I am also impressed by the fact that the manuscripts of the explorers also served as a means of communication, which encouraged other explorers such as John Franklin to start traveling. These manuscripts are also a primary source of most of the information that is known about the experiences of the explorers and the reactions they received wherever they settled.
