In the week's studies, the relation of nature to humanity is emphasized. To that effect, two theories have been brought forth. In the dominion theory, the environment is only good as long as it serves its purpose in serving humanity (Scherer pg. 46). This is a utilitarian theory that is more anthropocentric. It champions humanity as the Supreme Being and the environment is there to serve his purpose. On the other hand, this could confirm with environmental justice but fail to do justice to the environment as far as preservation is concerned. But moral extensions demand more practicality.
