I encourage you to record and express any thoughts, questions, and/or concerns that come up as you read, and thus develop independent ideas about a text. Furthermore, your response should succinctly state what part of the work you see as significant and then explain its relationship to the work as a whole. Dont tell me what happened or summarize the text. Ive read the material and dont need this information. Instead, your focus should be explaining to me as clearly as possible how and why a certain detail or incident shapes your analysis and is important to your overall understanding of the work. An application paper is an opportunity for you to apply what you just read to your personal experience. Both papers are informal, so you do not have to produce a developed thesis and argument; however, make sure your writing is free of mistakes and that your style is interesting. Be clear about what you are saying and communicate what fascinates or troubles you. Your papers will be scored based on their focus and depth.

Reading Reaction and ApplicationRecently, I participated in a survey to investigate medical behavior. The researcher informed me, together with other participants, the purpose of the research. Out of the research purpose, I consented to participate in the survey since I believed the research objective was valid and not harmful in any way. However, in the course of the survey, I felt like quitting since the researchers introduced additional questionnaires that contained information I believed were better kept private. Even though the researchers assured of the confidentiality of all the data collected, I felt they should have informed me about all the information needed before signing the consent form. If I knew such a questionnaire initially, I believe I would not have offered to take part...
