Hello AnnahThis is an amazing discussion. I agree with you that Gilgamesh and Rama had significant differences. First, Gilgamesh cowardly escaped for fear of dying, only for him to come back and be viewed as a hero. Conversely, Rama was a hero for agreeing to be chased to the forest instead of taking the throne and becoming the king. Rama did not return from the forest even after the 14 months he was meant to spend there had elapsed. His decision was heroic because he chose to suffer so that he could honor his fathers request.I share a similar opinion with you in that I do not understand why a selfish Gilgamesh would be considered a hero compared to Rama who was selfless and obedient.
