Use what you learned to discuss the story and help me and your readers understand how to "interpret" Poe's stories better. Many stories in the romance genre are of love and poetic justice but the bad emotions and its consequences are not addressed. It also explores the human self, as Stephen King points out in Why We Crave Horror Movies, everyone has that dark self. It is how much people hide evil self that defines a personality. King argues that the love of horror movies is evidence in support of this. Evil self is depicted as alligators that are kept caged (king).
