Liver CirrhosisLiver cirrhosis is the end stage of liver disease. It is caused by various factors, such as chronic hepatitis, infection, metabolic disorders, and chronic alcohol intake. Dietary control is required to meet nutritional needs for patients with liver cirrhosis. Generally, in liver cirrhosis, poor nutritional status may lead to poor prognosis hence increased mortality rates among patients. Malnutrition is common in patients with this condition due to metabolic defects and impaired liver functions resulting in low nutrient absorption (Calmet, Martin & Pearlman, 2019).
