Culture and Gender Stereotypes
Instructions
Instructions:After watching the movie "Crash " or "The Good Lie" write a 2-3 page reflection paper on how the chosen story line closely matches up to much of what we learned thus far0Either movie may be a difficult movie to digest, as there are some graphic scenes that do touch on some very sensitive topics. Students are encouraged to watch either film as it relates to the course--and if you have already watched the films before--open your vantage point further for the sake of this assignment. You will see the characters portrayed display attitudes, prejudices, stereotypes and other terms that relate to cultural diversity and you can apply it firsthand to the knowledge youve read throughout this course."Crash" was released in 2004 and is available at Hatch library as well as other town/college libraries, Redbox, and may also be streamed online through Amazon/Netflix and other websites. "The Good Lie" was released in 2014 and is available in many town/college libraries, Redbox, and may also be streamed online through Amazon/Netflix and other websites. Please advise if you have any difficulty obtaining either. After watching the film, please complete the following in a 2-3 page reflection paper following APA format:Provide your thoughts relative to the readings to date, discussing culture and gender stereotypes, ethnicity and gender roles, and aggression. Your paper should include at least two outside sources to support your own ideas.Provide a summary of the movie and the concepts discussed--relative to this course. What were your observations throughout the story? How did you feel about the characters? What did you learn from the movie relative to the course concepts learned thus far? You should cite the textbook and motion picture; include sources on reference page. The Purdue Owl (Links to an external site.) website will show you how to cite a movie. Follow APA format when writing this paper. Disclaimer: Due to the subject matter of both storylines, please exercise self care as you watch some of the difficult scenes. For example, pause the movie and take a break. After you are finished, you may want to just sit peacefully for a moment, go for a walk, talk with classmates, process with the instructor, etc. It is important to have this learning experience and to see the terms "come to life" and to broaden our understanding while noticing how we are affected. Additional Considerations:Cite your sources (at least two) using APA formatting (Links to an external site.)Your assignment should be approximately 2-3 pages in length, written in paragraph form.Assignments are due by Saturday at 11:59 PM ESTMake sure to look at the rubric for this assignment before you begin!!! It will give you a better idea how this assignment will be evaluated
