Public health in the USPublic health in the US has its roots in 1798 when Congress passed an Act for the Relief of Sick and Disabled Seamen. The Act was critical and aimed at promoting the health of seamen who became ill and could not find appropriate health. The act further recommended the formation of the US Marine Hospital Service that formed the basis of Public Health Service. The plans for public health grew further in 1799 with the selection of an area, Castle Island in Boston Harbor for the establishment of the marine hospitals (Rosen, 2015).
