To His Coy Mistress is a poem that focuses on the desire of a man to get a womans attention and love. However, the woman does seem to have been interested in the man. He expresses regret for not having had the chance to be loved. The poem is a dramatic monologue where the speaker tries to persuade the mistress. It expresses some urgency while at the same time trying to force the woman into accepting the offer. The poet is very concerned that they do not have all the time in the world and would only add more regrets if only she did not change her head and mind.
