Increasing population and new architectural designs are some of the factors that were showcased America as a new and progressing nation. People desired for improved living standards, from the working class to the millionaires. Greed for money and wealth became a norm in New York and a goal for everybody in the city, fueling capitalism even further. The city included new public spaces, including Central Park which has been a symbol of democracy.
