Europe and the outside worldIt would be wrong to say that Europe existed in isolation. The fact is that the connection between Europe and the rest of the world was minimal. Modes of communication and transportation were still crude, and the human population was very low. As early as 15th century, most of Europe was ruled by monarchies who dictated almost every aspect of life in the territories. Gradually as time goes by, we have seen Europe being affected by its connection with the broader world. Europe becomes connected with the outside world through exploration and the first explorers to move outside Europe at around 10th century are the Vikings pirates (Machiavelli, 1513).
