Students will review two TED Talks (http://www.TED.com (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. or http://www.npr.org/programs/ted-radio-hour (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.) that relates to topics from this class -- like service learning or community organizing or engaged action and community education.A brief (2-3 pages) analysis/critique of each article will be posted to CANVAS. Each review should contain four components: (See Rubric in Table form below) Rubric Components    Point Value per paper    Full citation of the work/TED Talk website and link    1 point    Brief review of the TED Talk with key information summarized. (who, what, where, when, why)    1 points    A critique of the presentation (what is the purpose, who is the audience, what is the speakers background and point of view, who benefits from this information)    2 points    An application section (how does this apply to program planning, diversity, social justice, and power)    2 points

Ted Talk ReviewThe Ted talk speech by Emma Hartung focuses on two main components of community service that are often not discussed. The human component, as described by the speakers is mainly concerned with altruism and leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those receiving the service. This component is associated with the fulfillment that service providers achieve and also acts as a springboard or motivator towards future servitude.
