ENGLISH Part 1 In many aspects, I agree with the assertions by Louis Menand that words and language capture the culture and trending topics of a given population. He has done a splendid job to demonstrate this by providing several illustrations from across several generations. However, I do not concur with his negative stance towards the evolution of words. He passes as a conservative mind that wants to retain language purity. Had this been the mind state of people in history, English would never have evolved beyond the old English version.
