For those who are work as practitioners in the health field, public health is a staple that is a major part of the titles that practitioners should abide for. Researchers turn to practitioners of healthcare to turn the information that has been studied and tested into a practical, ongoing service. For instance, influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory sickness caused by the influenza virus. To help protect individuals from this illness, organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) highly advocate that one effective way to combat the flu is to receive an annual influenza vaccination. Even though there are multiple strains of the flu virus, the CDC states that a flu vaccine can protect against the viruses that research suggests to be the most common. Comment 2:by: Francisco Aponte maldonadoThe reason Sub-Competency 7.2.1 is important in communicating and advocating for health and health education is due to the roles and responsibilities the HES have to provide the current health information to individuals of certain communities, government and educators as well as profit and non profit organizations that may help in the coordination of dissemination of health information. On eof the main factors of communicating is to specifically target communities in certain issues they have trough research and develop plans fto disseminate findings to these communities in coordination with managers and healthcare providers.(NCEH, 2017). Some of these examples could be the introduction to the Military Treatment Facilities (MTF) of advocates for victims of sexual abuse, introduction of the Joint Commission Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAO) into these MTF's to provide current accreditation standards.Comment 3:Devan Thompson posted Jan 30, 2018 2:41 PM SubscribeI believe it is important in advocating health and health education because if something is requiring advocacy and is a recurring issue. Then it probably wasnt handled correctly by health educators or taught right in the beginning to resolve the issue. Sub-competency 7.2.1 is to identify current and emerging issues requiring advocacy (NCHEC). Some examples would include virus that are deadly but dont make news headlines, sexual assault which now has gained much spotlight in the news. The topic of sexual assault requires advocacy to spread the word and let others know they also have a voice and are not alone. This movement has been emerging more and more but now has exploded. All the scandals and cases about sexual assault has been publicized everywhere. With technology growing ever so fast in the world why not use those good technologies for better and improved health care. Thimbleby (2013), talks about how large amounts of information patients produce. He continues to say by replacing paper copies with computerized summaries they can make patient care easier and more efficient. In the Air Force office I work in, we have already made most medical records electronic. As this is a tedious task, it allows quick and easy access to records by simply typing in the patients last name or social security number. Thus, this simple step can save much valued time and cause less human errors. Many more advances in technology include 3D printers creating products, and safety and security. The future of medical technologies is astounding. As technology becomes more futuristic so will hospitals and medical equipment.
