Firstly, not all surgical procedures are suitable for the ambulatory care. In this case, one is highly concerned with his or her safety. They are for the outpatient services only. Moreover, ambulatory care does not involve the overnight facilities. A patient who must spend a night will be transported to the nearby hospital for observation (Ansari, Haider, Ansari, De Gooyer & Sindall, 2012). Another downside is that emergent surgical complications in ambulatory care require transfers to close hospitals.
