ETHICSHospitals should not test women for drug use without their consent. Since such a practice by the practitioners will lower the esteem of women. Even though the government advocates for testing in such cases, healthcare providers' privacy should be very high and confidential. The Supreme Court in the U.S has held that, whether the intent is to alert the police to possible crimes, medical employees cannot screen pregnant patients in prescription substances without their written consent or a proper warrant.
