Each group appeals to supporters by giving a compelling reason to the supporters. The two groups in the survey are academics who, on the one hand, support gun control and the others who are opposed to gun control. The reason that each group gives is compelling because the reasons convince one to support aside and not support the other. For instance, those who support gun control cite security issues that have always been at the forefront as far as gun policy is concerned (Bui & Sanger-Katz, 2020). Their claim is based on the innocent lives that have been lost because a person who did not desire to have a gun was given the gun.
