Cory Booker is an American politician born in the year 1969 who is serving asthe United States senator from New Jersey. Booker studied bachelor of political science and masters in sociology before obtaining a graduate degree at Yale Law School. He worked as the city councilman in Newark, New Jersey for 8 years before running for mayor in the years 2002 and 2006 (GORDON, 2006). In 2002, he launch a spirited campaign against the incumbent mayor Sharpe James but unfortunately lost. However, in 2006 he won by landslide against his competitor Ronald Rice.
