IN FIRST PAGE :Section 6 of the HBR Guide to Persuasive Presentations (Duarte, 2012) covers the tips for delivering a successful presentation. Please read the chapter and discuss the following questions:What is effective body language in an academic presentation?Give examples of emotional appeal you will be using in your upcoming presentation. Why did you choose them?Should you read or memorize your presentation? Why? Why not?Should you use humor in an academic presentation? Why? Why not?SECOND PAGE: RESPONSE MY CLASSMATE'S POST(150 WORDS PER RESPONSE) CITE Refrences IN EACH RESPONSE1.According to me the effective body language is an essential tool which helps us build credibility, express our emotions, and connect with the audience. It also helps the audience focus more intently on me and what I am trying to say.In my presentation I am really looking forward to try bringing the emotion which I am trying to explain to the audience on my face, I will try connecting more to the audience by establishing eye-contact through out the presentation, more use of hand gestures. I choose these because I am looking forward to connect with my audience on a personal level and make them realize that I have a valid reason for choosing this particular field.I personally will avoid both reading and memorizing the presentation, rather I would try to describe and form my presentation like a story with a series of events happening in a particular flow. And the reason not doing either of the two is I don't want my audience to think that I am going to give a speech or deliver a lecture and in turn they might feel to sit through the presentation forcefully and ignore the same. I want them to enjoy and more interested in knowing the facts and reasons behind my decision.Yes, I would definitely use humor in an academic presentation. The reason behind that is most of the academic presentation have statistical data like graphs and pie charts in them. Even though it is easy to explain but rather boring to sit through because of all the numbers and percentages. So if humor is added than it would definitely make my presentation a little less boring.Refrences:Duarte, N. (2012). HBR guide to persuasive presentations. Harvard Business Review Press.2. Hello classmates, Reading through the article of author Duarte (2012) about persuasive presentations, I discovered that body language plays an important role in connecting with the audience. When using eye contact, large movements, or dynamic postures in the presentation, the presenter could gain not only trust in his expertise from the audience but also confidence for himself. In my upcoming presentation, I will use two techniques which are smiling and arm movements to express my emotion. Indeed, according to Barron (2020), "a smile is the most powerful tool you've got in your body language toolbox". Furthermore, smiles help me reduce stress or anxiety when I present in front of many people. As for the upcoming presentation, I will focus on arm movements to make me comfortable when I have to present online through computer-based. From my perspective, I prefer memorizing the outline of the presentation to make sure I follow the main points planned. This does not mean I have to remember all words that I have prepared because you will be nervous when you forget something to say. Regarding the humor in an academic presentation, I believe that this can allow the audience to memorize longer when they have a special feeling about the interesting presentation in comparison with the usual one. However, since it is an academic presentation, humor should be used sensibly and not exaggerated.ReferencesBarron, B. (2020, August 27).
