Invented traditionsInvented traditions are ethnic practices that are rather recent and devised by historical figures who are known even though they are deemed as traditional. The invented traditions seem to be old, but they are traditions whose roots are recent or even created. The invented traditions by the Europeans in all cultural fields such as educational, military, ecclesiastical, monarchical and republican grew during the colonial period because the Europeans wanted to justify their roles and gain control, power and respect from Africans.
