Marfan Syndrome The main topic being conferred is Marfan syndrome. Marfan syndrome is a disorder that affects the bodys connective tissue that is made of proteins. It is a genetically transmitted disorder. The connective tissue binds up all the bodys cells, organs and tissue together and has a role in aiding the body to grow and develop normally in skeletal structure. The protein responsible for Marfan syndrome is known as the fibrillin-1 and a mutation in the gene that directs the body on how to make the protein causes the genetic disorder. This mutation leads to an increase in a protein known as transforming growth factor-beta and the increase in TGF-B originates problems in connective tissues everywhere in the body.
