Module Six: Tailoring the Message to an Audience, continued, learning block 6-2 (page 4): Question 1: Describe the narrative path that you plan to take. For example, do you plan to start by describing the social science issue and ultimately leadthe audience to the logic as to why they should care? Do you plan to open with your research question? Did you want to keep listening? Why or why not? Make special notes of any times you felt lossor confused while viewing the presentation or trying to follow along with any technical concepts Ornish used to explain his work. Question 3: After listening to the talk, do you feel personally connected to the issue? Why or why not? If you were on a committee of peopledetermining whether to approve funding for Ornishs work, would you agree to provide him more funding? Why or why not? Question 4: Now think about your own presentation. Of course, you are not finished constructing the presentation; however, consider what you havedone so far. At this stage you have finished two slides, the narrative structure and elements, the description of the social science issue, and an appeal tothe audience as to why they should care. Provide yourself some honest feedback. What areas of your presentation need the most work? How do youplan to adjust your presentation so that you communicate your research effectively?

Question 1A narrative is broken down into various parts. The grip that the narrator holds the audience in a narrative depends on the path taken by the narrator. In my case, I wish to plan to use an overarching analogy in weaving the story. The analogy will enable my audience to link complicated ideas or concepts with what they already understand from the analogy (Fitzpatrick (2018, November). Using an analogy will enable my presentation to reach the audience as a single story whose meaning is tied to the analogy at the beginning of the narrative.Question 2In my opinion, the TED talk was engaging and had the audience guessing every next step in curiosity and longing.
