Peer 1In an attempt to gain a better understanding of ethics in business, I reviewed numerous sources on the issue ranging from Gallup polls to Berrett-Koehler publications. I'm not entirely surprised by my findings, as I already knew that the general public had developed a distrust for large corporations. In order to convey the message of public skepticism, I knew that I would need to present corroborating information. I decided that a poll would be the most effective evidence to support the claim. In a poll of 1011 adult Americans in 2017, 81% stated that the country's morals were fair or poor. (Gallup 2017) This is an astonishing statistic, as it represents bipartisan agreeance that morality is on the decline in the United States. Citing recent events such as the Wells Fargo and Facebook privacy scandals should also further defend my argument. Privacy is a concern that almost everyone has, which is why I believe that my topic can reach a wide audience. Works CitedNorman, J. (2020, March 31). From past experience, I know that if this balance is not maintained it can lead to a lot of stress and anxiety. Since I do have such a strong passion for this based on my experiences I am choosing to use the concept of anecdote. This is very easy for me to add to my presentation as well as can make the issue more relatable. When someone can relate to or personally understand an issue they are much more likely to pay attention and become invested. Anecdotes also help to show the importance of an issue and demonstrate that it is a real-life matter that can be applied to many members of society. Simply put, it helps the issue hit closer to home for the audience. I think adding their own story also helps to demonstrate how passionate the presenter is and why they chose a subject to feel so strongly about. It provides background, relatability, and importance.
