AnalysisThe speech was a campaign against communism and making accusations of treason by minority groups. According to McCarthy, it was communism was immoral. In a communist world, the factories and land would be seized from the owners and turned into a single enterprise. This would be robbing the people and it is unethical. The immorality of communist ideology extends to religion by dismissing the existence of God (McCarthy, 249). Philosophers theorized that a communist state could not peacefully co-exist with a Christian state. He accused minorities in the nation of being traitors who are divulging information to the enemy.
