Personal StatementGrowing up, my parents always encouraged my siblings and me to work hard in school and become doctors. This was a common statement among parents in my neighborhood. One of our neighbors was a doctor who was greatly respected and admired in the community. Her house was the largest and she had several nice cars. The constant reiteration from my parents on the perks of being a doctor influenced my dream of pursuing a career in medicine. My motivation was to be affluent and a respected member of the community like my neighbor. When I was 12 years old, I had a severe stomach ache and fever.
