The Dome of the Rock, which was constructed in the 7th century, is one of the important monuments in the region as it is regarded as the Biblical location of Abrahams sacrifice. Most importantly, the old city of Jerusalem was listed on UNESCO sites in 1981 and is believed to be in danger because of the religious conflicts and urbanization occurring around the cultural monuments (Glass and Khamaisi 579). The structural composition of the city reveals its religious importance, particularly because it has been divided into four quarters; Jewish, Armenian, Christian and Moslem.
