Upon reviewing the individual mandate of the ACA, I do not feel as if it violates human rights in any way. The mandate is anchored on the best interest of the public. It is the role of the government to ensure that people have access to affordable healthcare (Zhao et al., 2020). However, the challenge of affordable and quality healthcare is that it is expensive. For instance, currently, the government spends about 18 percent of its budget on healthcare funding (Ozieh et al., 2017). It is for this reason that it must come up with interventions for supporting the initiative.
