12 points, Times New Roman, Letter, the 1-inch margin for all sides3 single-spaced pages or less BACKGROUNDSocial science researchers who study any form of social inequalities are more or less interested in finding solutions. They started to research it because they believed it was a problem. However, conducting social research is a long process, and researchers face many chances of being away from their original purpose. As a result, the finding of some research does not echo well with the suggested solution of the studies. Sometimes, their solution is too detailed and small or too broad and abstract to tackle the social inequality problem they confront. This assignment invites you to revisit some readings you already read in this class and evaluate whether their findings and solutions match with one another. By doing so, you will be able to develop your own analytical lenses and practical positions to fight against social inequality. GOALS1. Learn how to read academic articles systemically and critically2. Develop the analytical lenses and practical positions toward specific social inequality problems WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: 1. (Re)read TWO readings.  a. Any few main chapters of your choice and Conclusion of Ballad of the Bulletb. Pick ONE academic article from the listed articles below. You can find the PDF file of these articles on Blackboard (Tab Take-home assignment > Articles for Take-home assignment #1).i. Gaddis, Michael S., and Raj Ghoshal. 2020. Searching for a Roommate: A Correspondence Audit Examing Racial-Ethnic and Immigrant Discrimination among Millennialsii. Tinkler, Justine, Jun Zhao, Yan Li, and Cecilla Ridgeway. 2019. Prepare the designated layout: Times New Roman 12 points, Letter, the 1-inch margin on all sides, and single space. But remember, you need to submit it in the files ended with DOC, DOCX, or PDF. (Font type is negotiable if you hate Times New Roman) 3. Write your name, email address, and the name of the chapters and the article you have selected. 4. Answer the following questions in your writing.a. Which type of social inequality is discussed in each reading?b. According to the author(s), why does this type of social inequality occur?c. What solution does the author explicitly or implicitly suggest?d. How would Michelle Jackson and Monica Prasad (see 11/5 Lecture) evaluate this study? Would they think the problem and the suggestion solution match one another? (Here, you need to summarize their core arguments briefly.)e. Do you agree or disagree with their evaluations? If so or not, why? If needed, you can provide some examples from your life or stories that you have heard from other sources. 5. Several points to consider:a. Focus on the finding, argument, conclusion, and implication of the studies of your choice.i. You do not have to or should not summarize the academic review and implication part. The academic articles usually spend many pages explaining what studies have done before this study. I want you to focus on THIS study, not prior studies mentioned in that article. That means you can skip the literature review part.ii. When you read findings, dont spend too much time interpreting academic jargon or statistical numbers. Every article has parts of comprehending what those mean in plain language. Your job is finding those parts and getting a sense of what stories unfold there.b. I do not plan to extend the page limits this time. If you dont have sufficient space to finish your assignments:i. First, reduce the amount of summary. Since all the details look like so important, some of you tend to copy and paste most texts. However, you have to decide which part is more important than the others.ii. Second, bring your draft to me. I will take a look and give you some suggestions of which part you should cut.iii. Finally, remember that this is a short essay assignment, not the final term paper assignment. Unfortunately or fortunately, this assignment only asks your thoughts on the assigned materials, not the entire debate surrounding the problem. You may have a chance to develop your idea in a more advanced level class.
