As argued by public health officers, individuals who can access vaccines and among whom COVID-19 vaccination is not contraindicated possess the moral obligation to get the vaccine and boost fulfillment of herd immunity. However, it is unethical to coerce individuals who access and qualify for vaccination to get vaccinated against their wishes or without consent. As such, it was against deontological ethics for the governor of Washington, Jay Inslee, to force troopers to either get jabbed or lose their jobs. According to deontological ethics, Robert LaMay has the right to accept or reject vaccination, and his choice must be protected regardless of the consequences, which include his exposure to coronavirus, being a potential spreader, or failing the government's efforts to attain herd immun...
