Please give some examples of how place - where the artist physically is - is relevant in Kai Chen's work and practice.

Generally, the place is one of the elements that impact what an artist sees. Artists are commonly referred to as the mirror of the community. As such, they present what they have seen in an artistic manner and use it to pass a message. Artists' physical surroundings such as culture, climate, and people all influence what they create. Culture, for instance, shapes the worldview of artists and the connection they have with patterns, color, shapes, and the people around them (Pelowski, Matthew, et al.).
