Reducing Geohazard Exposure
Instructions
When acting in an ethical manner, geoscientists are faced with preparing populations for potential future hazards. Select a location by researching recent geohazards (Japan tsunami, recent earthquakes, etc.) using Google, Shapiro Library, or local media. Using the location you have selected, reflect on what constraints might exist when geoscientists attempt to prepare the population or geographical location you selected for potential future hazards. Identify at least two that can be discussed. Be specific in your choice of location.

One recent destructive earthquake in Japan named the Great Hanshin Earthquake affected Iwate, causing massive life and property loss. The intensive effects of earthquakes are partly due to constraints as geoscientists attempt to prepare residents of the affected geographical area on the potential future hazards.
