Watkins.According to the authors of the chapter, the number of colored African Americans in architectural practice is very low when compared to other professions such as law and medicine (Anthony & Watkins, 2009). The most surprising and shocking information was that, as of 2008, in architectural practice, only 1.1 percent of the members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) were African American, with only 106 of them being women.
