IntroductionThe use of missile by Nazi Germany increased the urge by human beings to use rockets for space exploration. The Soviet Union made the first step by launching Sputnik 1, into space On October 4, 1957. Soviets continued with their quest to explore the space by sending a human being, Lt. Yuri Gagarin to orbit Earth in Vostok 1. The space exploration took place on April 12, 1961, with the flight lasting for 108 minutes. The United States also sent John Glenn for a historic flight, where he became the first American to orbit Earth. His exploration was on Feb. 20, 1962, a year after Russias conquest.
