While your immediate career goals can change as can your long-term goals as you learn more about different aspects of a career, it helps to have a plan and determine the short and long-term goals to realize your end goal.For instance, someone may think they want to become an emergency medical technician (EMT). But using their IDP, one of their short term goals was getting an internship. During their internship, they learn that they are not as clear thinking as needed in an emergency situation in such a job as an EMT. My long-term goal is to secure a managerial position in marketing when I retire from the army. To achieve this, two resources will be critical.
