Women Marginalized and Undervalued
Instructions
Hello I have already started my report although I need one full more page. This is my essay question to help:Is the work of women marginalized and undervalued? Why or why not? If so, how is it marginalized, and what effects does this have on women? If not, how do we explain that women in the workforce make less than men, occupy only a fraction of those positions of most authority, and tend to work in unstable or insecure employment more than working men? (Note: your discussion of women's work can focus exclusively on women in the public sphere or it can include a discussion of women and domestic work/mothering and the raising of children.)USE UNDERSTANDING FROM WOMENS STUDIES COURSES AND CONNECTIONSI also attached a PDF VERSION of my report so far so you can please add a paragraph at the end for the counter argument as well as another paragraph you believe needs more work on. I Need one more FULL page of writing Dont Worry about title page just give me your own document of your own paragraphs and I will add it myself! thanks The purpose of this assignment is to:Assess your understanding of complex course ideas through your application of critical argument.Craft a concise and clear piece of writing.Exercise your ability to make an argument and defend a position.Come to some conclusions regarding important issues in women's studies.DescriptionIn this assignment you will have the opportunity to state your considered view on whatever course topic you find most interesting. I have developed five (5) possible essay questions for you to choose from. Once you have chosen one (1) of these questions, you will write a traditional argumentative essay. (See the "Guide to Writing an Argumentative Essay" below for more detailed instructions.) Note: If you would prefer to develop your own essay question for this assignment, this is possible. However, you would need to send me an email with your proposed question (modeled after the questions I have developed) no less than two (2) weeks prior to the assignment due date. I will review your question and let you know whether it has been approved, along with any questions or suggestions I have.Guide to Writing an Argumentative EssayKeep the following points in mind:Go over any relevant readings again, focusing on the relevant arguments.Use the first paragraph of your paper to indicate what the problem or disagreement is, and clearly state your thesis/position.Use the rest of the space to reconstruct the relevant arguments, to clearly state what your position is, and argue for it (making sure to include a plausible counter-argument to your position).A counter-argument is a response to your position (i.e. your thesis or some part of your argument). It doesn't have to argue the opposite of what you argue; instead, it may just be a plausible objection to one of the claims you make. It should come after you have made your argument (i.e. made all of the points you want to make to defend your thesis). A counterargument is followed by a brief response letting your reader know why your position is still stronger. You should not be offering a counter-argument after each of your premises; rather, you should be presenting it in a paragraph after you've argued for your position. This paragraph will be followed by your response. As with the Critical Response Paper, you must support your position with reasoned argument. Keep in mind that although you are welcome to bring to bear your own experiences in making your argument, this is not a reflection piece; it is an argumentative essay. Accordingly, you must draw on academic sources to support your position. You may use any accepted citation style you like as long as you use it consistently. (Citations do require specific page numbers.) Make sure you cite regularly and often when talking about ideas that are not your own. Also, remember to use the primary sources, not course notes, for references. (You may cite the course notes sparingly, but only for material that is not in the primary pieces.) If you have questions about how to properly cite sources, or construct your bibliography, please visit the following (very useful!) page: Cite Your Sources. Keep in mind that if you go outside of course readings (which is not required of you), then you should be drawing primarily on academic, or scholarly sources (i.e. peer reviewed journal articles, books, or book chapters) to support your argument.AssessmentYour grade will be based on the following criteria:Do you survey the relevant material for the paper, including the most important positions/arguments we have discussed throughout the class?Do you properly reconstruct the authors' positions?Do you provide a thesis statement, and well-reasoned arguments in support of your critical position?Do you provide a plausible counterargument to your position? Is the report structurally and stylistically sound? (Only reports with perfect or nearly perfect grammar and paragraph structure will get an A or A+ grade.)
