Foolishness and Human Duplicity The novel Chronicle of A Death Foretold depicts how some characters acted out of conservative stupidity and shallow mindedness. The authoritative figure of Bishop in the book is infatuated. Both men and women would dress to impress whenever they were to meet him. The people were in awe over him, and their interests in him were for selfish purposes. It was foolish and a symbol of how other countries thought of the colonists.
