The Victims by Sharon OldsQuestion 1Sharon Olds, in her first part of the poem from lines 1 to 17, reveals the attitude of anger towards her father. She refers to him as you, which depicts the attitude of anger and disrespect towards him. Sharon, in the same tone, refers to her fathers fancy clothes (line 13) and descendent lunches as double bourbons (line 10). The second half of the poem uses an attitude of sympathy, where the poet begins to refer to her parent as the father (line 17). The sympathy also shows through her words bums in doorways as in lines 18 and 19. The poet uses an extremely bitter tone as she mentions her mother who taught her to hate and take the faults of her father the way they are.Question 2The significance of the title lies in the meaning and the theme of the poem....
