Question 1The speaker connects agriculture with loss of diversity by stating the negative consequences associated with agricultural practices. One example that Foley provides is the decision by Russia to divert water supply to the Aral Sea in the name of promoting the cultivation of cotton (Foley, 2010). As a result, the sea subsided, leading to a loss of diversity as a result of interference of marine life that depended on the sea.
