iGen reasearch paper
Instructions
Haydn Shaw in his book, Sticking Points, identifies four generations present in the workforce and identifies twelve possible sticking points that have been identified as a result of their interaction at work. Since the time of Shaws writing, many workplaces no longer have Traditionalists (those born before 1945) present in the workplace. Instead, a growing number of workplaces have young workers born between 1995-2012 which increasingly have been identified as the iGen generation. The older members of this generation have graduated from college and are now present in the workplace in growing numbers. The assignment is to identify the characteristics of this iGen generation in a similar manner as Shaw has identified the characteristics of the generations included in his text. In Part 1: Ghost Stories, Shaw explains that each generation experiences major events in their formative years. He explains, These stories help us make sense of momentous events and explain who we are today and why. They live on like ghosts. We dont fully appreciate another person until we understand his or her ghost stories (Shaw location 938 Kindle). You should (1) identify 2 iGen Ghost Stories, (2) explain why those events are important to the iGens, and (3) how this affects the manner in which the iGens approach the workplace.Ghost stories chosen: https://armyandnavyacademy.org/blog/just-who-is-the-igen-generation-and-how-are-they-different/ https://www.utm.edu/news/2019/09/04/twenge-discusses-mental-health-social-culture-and-the-igen-generation/
