Drug WarThe war on drugs, initiated and led by the US government, seeks to enforce laws related to the prohibition of drugs with the chief objective being the eradication or reduction of the illegal trade in drugs (Lim, 2018). As such, the campaign is based on policies that are meant to hinder the production and subsequent distribution of illegal substances. Drug users are also targeted by the US federal government, who want to decrease the rate of illicit drug consumption within their borders and the world at large.
