War on poverty policies was introduced by President Lyndon B. Johnson with the goal of fosteringequality and economic opportunities. War on poverty exemplifieda significantstep taken by the United States government trying to come up witha safety net for those people living in poverty. The policies stipulated by Johnson were important since they reduced the degree of the issue of poverty in the United States by expanding the role of the federal government in education and provision of healthcare services (Glen, 2017).
